Donald J. Green, 79, of Port Wentworth, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024. Donald was born in Watertown, New York on April 11, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Irene Plank Green, as well as his sister, Joan Strater. Donald was a proud United States Marine, having attained Corporal status, and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Kemba Credit Union. Donald grew up on a dairy farm, enjoyed his summers at Knobby Knoll and loved country and western music, especially the Grand Ole Opry. He will be remembered for his high morals and integrity, for being a role model to many, and for being a Christian. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bettyrose Green. He and his wife were married on August 9, 1969 at St. Patrick’s Church in Watertown, New York. Also surviving are his sons, Matthew Green (Beth), Andrew Green (Trish) and Kevin Green (Holly); grandchildren, Jessie Hoke (Carson), Justine Green, Jordan Green, Jason Randall, Katherine Green, Elise Green, and Ryland Vandervalk; great-granddaughter, Eliza Louise Hoke, daughter of Jessie and Carson Hoke; brother, Richard Green (Gayle), as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 18, 2024 in the chapel of the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until time of service.
