Donald Gene Henger
June 29, 1957 – July 14, 2020
Donald Gene Henger, age 63, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday from health complications. He was the son of the late Norman Elwood and Betty Mae Henger.
Don was a family man at heart and raised three beautiful daughters with his wife Lori (Wanamaker) Henger who would have celebrated 40 years of love this August. He is remembered as a loving father by his daughters Sarah Mae Henger, Christina Ann (Brett) Kenworthy and Angelina Diane Henger. Papaw Don was blessed with two grandsons, Colton and Carson Kenworthy. He is also survived by his brother Norm (Cindy) Henger and sister Ruth (Steve) Nash. He will be greatly missed by numerous friends and family.
Anyone that knew Don knew that he loved the Marines, boating, Bluegrass, his dogs, hunting, loud music and Miller Lite. He was a simple man that found joy by spending time with his family and friends, often at “The Henger Resort,” the Troy Fish and Game, AMVETS and more. He also loved simply sitting by a pond by himself usually with a white German Shepard by his side. He was an employee of Mahle of Dayton for 37 years. He was loyal, loved a good laugh and will always be remembered because “we love you more.”
Visitation will be held at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Rd., Vandalia on Tuesday, July 21st at 9:30 am with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10:30 am with Rev. Fr. John Tonkin officiating.
Burial services will be held Thursday, July 23rd at 2pm at Poplar Hill cemetery (Vandalia, Ohio) where all family and friends are also welcome.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in honor of Don to the Miami County Animal Shelter.
For all of those wishing to join the family in celebrating Don’s life, please help protect yourself and others by following the required safety guidelines and wear your mask. Thank you in advance.
