NOWOTNY, Donald L., age 75 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 8, 1936 in Dayton, OH, son of the late LeRoy & Martha (Jurgeliet) Nowotny. Don was a retired employee of the Berry Company with over 38 years of service. He was a 1954 graduate of Northridge High School and took art classes at the Dayton Art Institute. Don was a member of the JayCees and the Mens Republican Club. He also enjoyed going to Kings Island, rollerskating, visiting Lake Erie, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly (Motter) Nowotny; 3 daughters, Judith Ashton, Jennifer Nowotny & fiance, Mike Collett and Jill & husband, Daniel Miller, all of Vandalia; 1 sister, Patricia & husband, Daymon Saunders of Vandalia; 5 grandchildren, Alexander, Eric, Meghann, Sierra & Jordan and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, March 21 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Dayton in Dons memory.
