Donald Lee Polly, age 86 of Vandalia, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was born in Belvia, KY to the late James H and Ritter Webb Polly in 1938. He was a 1957 graduate of Whitesburg High School in Letcher County, KY. Don served in the army at Fort Knox, KY in the late 1950’s. He attended Boyce Bible College and Eastern Baptist Institute. He was licensed to preach in Ohio & ordained at Plateau Missionary Baptist Church in TN. Don was also a licensed realtor, and a Chrysler retiree. He enjoyed short employment at Mallory Timers & Cooley’s Repair Shop. Don was also a proud Kentucky Colonel.
Don was preceded in death by his siblings; Joy Adams, Glenna Hicks, Genevee Fitzpatrick, Roy, Carlos, Steve, and Darrelwood Polly. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, K. Virginia Polly; son, Kerry M. Polly (Pam); daughter, Cindy Thomas (Eric); grandchildren, Derek Polly (Liz); Joshua Polly (Sarah); Tasha Gibbs; and Dakota Thomas, as well as bonus grandkids Dustin Moss and Lindsay Murph; nine great-grand-children: Kaiden, James, John, Dante, Waverly, Delilah, Genesis, Jonah, and Ben; plus many special friends and family.
The bible Don carried is well worn, showing his devotion to the teachings of God. Reaching people for Christ was his great joy. His heart overflows with love for family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, until the start of the funeral service at 10 a.m. Pastor Dan Kincer officiating. Burial to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County in Donald’s memory.
