Donald L. Rehmert

June 5, 1938 — February 25, 2014

REHMERT, Donald L., age 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 25, 2014. A beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Don was born on June 5, 1938 to Mary and Cletus Rehmert in Union City, Ohio. He was a Vandalia-Butler High School graduate and a 1996 retiree of the Chrysler Corporation on Webster Street after 33 years of service. Don was a faithful member and Deacon of the North Dayton Baptist Church and then the First Baptist Church of Vandalia. Don was preceded in death by his oldest son Rodney, and his wife of 50 years, Rose. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Char, daughter, Rhonda Janow (Jason); grandchildren, Les, Ashley (Randy), Michael (Jen), Hope (Joe), Alex, Dylan, Carrie (Luke), Emily, Joshua and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Coley, Olivia and Maxwell, who will all dearly miss their grandpa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Charlotte, David and Kathy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Naomi and Bill May, and Virgie and Bill Edwards; sisters, Margaret Quick, Nancy Riewerts, Dorothy Gentle and Arlene DuVall; many nieces, nephews, close friends and adopted family and grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks and gratitude to the awesome nurses of the Grandview Hospital MICU Unit, Reba, Holly, Shanna, Brook and Becky, who treated our father and family with love, respect and tenderness beyond compare. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, March 1 at the First Baptist Church, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia with Pastor David Starry officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 am until time of service. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Donald's memory. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
