Donald E Shoemaker

Donald Elmer Shoemaker, Jr. was born to Donald and Mildred Shoemaker on April 28, 1935 then passed into the kingdom of Heaven on April 26, 2011. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 55 years Marianne (Hawley) and his sister Patricia Moylan. His legacy lives on through his children Kenneth (Belinda) of Los Altos Hills, CA, Edward (Lori) of Vandalia and Linda (Kevin) of Darnestown, MD, grandchildren Alexandra, Cory, Andrew, Drew, Kaitlyn, and Shannon, niece Jennifer Moylan, sisters-in-law, Pat Ruble, Kay Chet and Joan Hawley, and special cousins Sue and Jim Falter. He brought joy to many and now rests in grace. Don was a 1953 graduate of Fairview High School where he played football and basketball. His next stop was at Bowling Green State University where in 1956 he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. and was also a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. His work career in accounting spanned over 32 years at what is now the Sheffield Measurement Division of Giddings & Lewis. He was a member of Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church in Huber Heights where he served as liturgist and sang in the choir. Don was a longtime member of Millennium Lodge No 779 and was exalted in Victory Chapter No 210 R.A.M, where he served as Excellent High Priest. He advanced to Reese Council No 9 R&SM; was knighted in Reed Commandery No 6 K.T. and was a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. Brother Shoemaker was a member of Antioch Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. A memorial service will take place at Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m. It will be preceded by a Masonic service and a Masonic ring ceremony at 5:15. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Shriners Childrens Hospital or Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
