WARNER, Donald E., age 80, of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Troy Care & Rehab Center. He was born August 12, 1929 in Beatytown, OH, son of the late David & Edna Warner. Don was a retired employee of TransWorld Airlines with 37 years of service. After his retirement, he went to work for Stonequarry Greenhouse for Russell & Terry Oberer. Don was also a bus driver for Vandalia-Butler City Schools, was a member of the Miami Valley Water Garden Society, where he was affectionately known as the Barley Straw Man, and was a member of the Tipp City Church of Christ. Don had a passion for farming and he enjoyed helping his wife with her business, Warners Greenhouse & Bridal Shop. He served as the Butler Booster Club President and was highly instrumental in the construction of the Butler Memorial Stadium and track facility. Preceded in death by 1 sister, Lois Jean Barger, Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Boedeker); 4 children, Philip & wife, Sandra Warner of Wilmington, James & wife, Georgian Warner of Vandalia, Marcia Heil & Roger Garber of Huber Heights, and Brenda & husband, Paul Smyth of Butler Twp; 7 grandchildren, Ryan Warner (Nicole), Erin Vanderzwart (Neal), Lindsay Warner & friend, Dave Yeh, Jade Griggs (Darrell), Michael Heil, Corey LeMaster and Sara LeMaster; 2 great-grandchildren, Dakota & Taylor Griggs, & Andrew Donald Heil; 1 sister, Mildred Wood and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 28 at the Tipp City Church of Christ, 6460 S. County Rd 25A, Tipp City, OH 45371 with Preacher Bob Vincent officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 3797 Summit Glen Rd., Ste. G100, Dayton, OH 45449 in Dons memory. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
