BLACK, Doris M. (Schuneman), age 92 of Washington Courthouse, formerly of Dayton, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Courthouse Manor. She was born April 15, 1926 in Dayton, OH, daughter of the late Arthur S. & Martha B. (Apelt) Wall. Doris worked for Standard Register, Dayton Power & Light and Sun Oil Co, as well as did clerical work for the Federal Bankruptcy Court. Preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Schuneman; second husband, William Black; daughter, Rose Mundhenk and sister, Kathleen James, Doris is survived by 2 daughters, Cindy Ryan (Ivan) of Butler Twp., Kay Henson (Paul) of Leesburg; 1 son, Arthur Schuneman (Pat) of WI;living step-children Dale Black (Erin) of Butler Twp., John Black (Barbara) of Tx., Nina Foti of Calif., Bill Black (Barbara) of Calif., along with numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
Doris was also blessed by the many families in her life including the Schuneman family, the William Black Family, the Richard Mundhenk family, her Huber Heights First Baptist Church family and her Courthouse Manor family. She taught many Bible studies and she loved music. She taught many students piano and worked with grandson John B. Ryan when he played the trumpet. She always encouraged her students to perform at contests, church events or any event where they could display their talent. In the words of John Black, “Her legacy is to be remembered by the hundreds of thousands of lives she touched while on this earth.”
A Celebration of Life for Doris will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 28 at First Baptist Church Vandalia, 140 Elva Ct., with Pastor Robert Hooker officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the HHFBC, 5875 Shull Rd., Huber Heights, OH 45424. Please designate for the Abbott Family Adoption. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
