Dorothy M. "Dottie" Lawson

LAWSON, Dorothy “Dottie” (Martin), age 90 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017. She was born in Portsmouth, OH, on October 2, 1926 to the late Roscoe & Aletha Martin. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene and is survived by her three loving children, Dr. Michael (Marilyn) Lawson, Curtis (Susan) Lawson, and Linda Lawson Kelly; grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Mobley, Karla Lawson (Ralph) Sanchez, Matt (Brittany) Lawson, Daniel Lawson, and Annie Lawson; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Kyle Mobley, Rosie Sanchez and Ellie Lawson; her sister, Margaret (Tom) Miller and her brother, Dean Martin; along with her loving friend, Jalynn Hamby. Dottie loved playing golf at Cassel Hills with the “Over the Hill” gang, lunching with friends, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. “Good-bye Mom, we love you very much.”

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Wednesday, August 23 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Graveside Services will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery at 3:30 pm with Pastor Jon Sullivan officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Hospice in Dottie’s memory.
