LYNCH, Dorothy Marie (Hickey)

Age 86, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Dorothy was born September 21, 1931 in Rockholds, Kentucky to the late Arthur Goebel & Lola Mae (Raines) Hickey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Esther (Hickey) Villandre, Ida (Hickey) Hays & Norma (Hickey) Williams.

In 1948, at the age of 16, Dorothy graduated from Stivers High School in Dayton, Ohio. She was a long-time member of Meadowdale Baptist Church. She retired as a bookkeeper, having worked at Walker Motors and Smedley’s Chevrolet. She also enjoyed using her bookkeeping aptitudes by volunteering to prepare tax returns for seniors. Dorothy enjoyed playing Bingo and rooting for the Cincinnati Reds. She delighted in cooking, baking breads, and watching relatives and friends quarrel over and hide from each other her mouth-watering fudge.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of the past 60 years, Lester Lynch; three children, Mike Lynch (Cathy), Mark Lynch (Debra) & Marla Lynch; three grandchildren, Amanda (Brad) McCleary, Stephanie (Josh) Conway & Hannah Lynch; one great grandson, Lucas McCleary; two sisters, Helen (Hickey) Hays & Julia (Hickey) Stokes (Ray); brother-in-law, Lloyd Lynch; and by her extended family & many good friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday (8/13) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Dorothy’s son, Pastor Mark Lynch, will officiate. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Dorothy to Meadowdale Baptist Church, 3686 Haney Road, Dayton, Ohio 45416.
