Dorothy Jean Wood

WOOD, Dorothy Jean (nee Macy), age 89, beloved wife for 62 years of Walter P. Wood, died July 2, 2014 in Fairfield, Ohio. Jean was born December 5, 1924 in Vandalia, Ohio. Preceded in death by husband, Walter (Woody), sister, Lova Brill (nee Macy) and her parents, Clarence and Ethel Macy. She is survived by her sister, Juanita Canton (nee Macy) of Centerville, Ohio, her loving sons, Randy (Coletta) Wood of Milford, Ohio and Scott (Debi) Wood of Fairfield, Ohio and dear grandmother to Andy, Amy and Rishae Wood, Breanna Wood Bennett, Lisa and Derek Hornsby and 6 great-grandchildren. Jean graduated from Vandalia Butler High School in 1942 and Defiance College in 1949 with a teaching degree in Elementary Education. Jean was an Elementary School Teacher for 21 years in the Vandalia School system. Jean touched many lives over the years and will be missed by her family. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held for Jean and Woody on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia from 4-5 pm.
