Doyle J. “D.J.” Thomas

Age 77, of Vandalia, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton.  D.J. was born December 29, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Clarence and Dortha (Miller) Thomas.  He was a retired employee of the Ironworkers Local #290 after 33 years of dedicated service.   D.J. had a passion for three things in his life, working, providing for his family and fishing.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene, D. J. is survived by three sons & their wives, Eric Thomas (Cindy), Scott Thomas (Beth) & Marc Thomas (Jeanette); two sisters, Patsy Via and Susan Sewell; eight grandchildren, Tasha, Dakota, Lauren (Dylan), Joey, Kari, Justice (Dakota), Paige (Amanda) & Jordan; and by eight great grandchildren, Kaiden, Dante, Waverly, Olivia, Ellie, Miles, and twins Emsley & Emersyn. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Malcosky officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of D.J. to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH.    Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
