Dr. Roger C. Blake, 73, of Tipp City and formerly of Butler Township, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017, at Stonespring of Vandalia.
He was born on May 22, 1944, in Dayton to the late Minor C. and June M. (Clanin) Blake. On May 7, 1977, he married his best friend, Linda S. Frazier, who survives.
Dr. Blake was a 1962 graduate of Beavercreek High School. In 1967, he graduated from Ohio Northern University in Ada with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy, where he was a member of Gamma Delta Chapter of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.
He was a registered pharmacist in the states of Ohio and Iowa and worked as a pharmacist while he pursued his medical degree. In 1973, he earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the former College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, now Des Moines University. Dr. Blake completed his internship at Grandview Hospital in 1974. He served the community for many years as a pharmacist and physician, including running his own family practice in Huber Heights. Dr. Blake also practiced for many years in the area of geriatrics at nursing homes across the Miami Valley.
He attended North Riverdale Lutheran Church in Dayton.
Dr. Blake loved spending time enjoying the beaches of Siesta Key, Florida and the Great Smoky Mountains. Above all he loved his family.
Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Linda; two sons, Robert (Susan) Blake, of Goshen, Ind., Michael Blake, of Tipp City; a brother, Richard M. Blake, of Xenia; and four grandchildren, Nick, Noah, Nate and Sadie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell E. Blake.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, November 25 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Monte Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service.
