E. Mavis Askins

ASKINS, E. Mavis, age 96 of Vandalia passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born January 31, 1921 in Morgan Co., KY, daughter of the late Jessie & Ida (Back) Craft. Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Archie F. Askins; 1 brother, Herbert Craft; and 2 sisters, Edith Manning & Beulah Craft. She is survived by her daughter, Dana A. Brown (Wendell); grandchildren, Tim Brown (Marilee) & Kim Brown-Simpson (Tim); 4 great-grandchildren, Ashley Ankney, Seth Brown, Adam & Jacob Simpson and 4 great-great-grandchildren, Brendan, Carson, Josie & Gwen. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 8, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Bill Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 noon until time of service.
