E. Irene Penewit

PENEWIT, E. Irene age 87, of Bloomington, IN, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Friday, February 6, 2009 at Garden Villa of Bloomington. She was born June 15, 1921 in Miami Co., OH, daughter of the late Harley & Ellen (Vandeveer) Kennedy. Irene was a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church, the Sunbeam Charter Eastern Star for over 50 years, and the Avion Travelcade Club. Preceded in death by 1 sister, Lucille Kennedy and 1 son-in-law, Larry Cathell, Irene is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald Penewit; 1 son, Gary & wife, Marie Penewit of ID; 1 daughter, Joyce Cathell of Bloomington; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mae & husband, Art Peoples of Medway and Sarah Watson of Tipp City; 1 brother, Forrest & wife, Anita Kennedy of Miami County; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 10 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Burial to follow at Bellbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vandalia United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice in Irenes memory.
