SOWDERS, Earl Delbert, age 79 of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton after a lengthy illness. He was born August 17, 1931 in Trosper, KY, son of the late Orvil & Cornellia Sowders. He was a retired Jobsetter from General Motors and a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple, sang with the Temple Four and raced harness horses for over 30 years. Preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother, Earl is survived by his wife, Kathleen; 2 sons, Larry Sowders and Paul & wife, Carol Sowders; 1 daughter, Pamela & husband, Gary Vest; and Kathleens children, 3 daughters & 1 son; 3 sisters, Bobbie & husband, Eugene Wells, Bernice & husband, Austin Elliott and Deborah Bays; 9 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 18, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Rick Washburn officiating. Burial will follow at Willowview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service.
