ELLIOTT, Eddith “Jane ”, age 79 of West Milton, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Upper Valley Medical Center. Jane was born November 29, 1936 in Miami County, OH, daughter of the late Harold H. & Mary P. (McDaniel) Akers. She was a 1954 graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School, enjoyed working for Schaffner’s Nursery, was a Sunday School Teacher at EUB and Vandalia United Methodist Church, a volunteer at Morton Junior High School, and was also the proud owner of an antique shop in Gordon, OH at one time. Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Beth and one sister, Linda Schuck, Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bill Elliott; daughter, Janet O’Dell (Dennis) of Union; son, Dan Elliott (Debbie) of Vandalia; 1 brother, Tim Akers; 1 sister, Maryann Welch (Don); 3 grandchildren, Zachary O’Dell, Ashley Corwin (Dave) & Ryan Jones; 3 great-grandchildren, Lane, Luke & Nora; and also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and very special friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 16 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Nancy Boedeker officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County in Jane’s memory, and the family would like to offer very special thanks to the Hospice Staff for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Jane. Jane would want everyone to know that she considered “money to just be a tool, but her wealth was always her family and friends.”
