KISSEL, Elizabeth Anne, “Betsy” (Pentenburg), age 65, of Butler Twp. passed away Friday, February 26, 2016, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born June 13, 1950, in Lima, Ohio, daughter of the late Louis & Dorothy (Nellis) Pentenburg. Betsy was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Miami Valley Lupus Connection, and the Blushing Buckeyes chapter of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed volunteering yearly at the Stoddard Avenue Pumpkin Glow and had a love for crocheting, sewing, and gardening. She also found joy in crafting, participating in various craft shows, and making cherished keepsakes and stockings for family and friends. Betsy was preceded in death by her sister, Kathryn Pentenburg. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Lavern “Joe” Kissel; daughter, Tina (Jim) Golden; son, Nick Kissel; 2 granddaughters, Adelyn and Katelyn Golden; 3 brothers, Dick (Dianne) Pentenburg, Steve Pentenburg, and Dave (Deborah) Pentenburg; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Wednesday, March 2, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Road, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia on Tuesday evening from 5 - 8 pm or on Wednesday morning at the church from 10 am until time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions in Betsy’s memory to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2000 L Street NW, Suite 410, Washington, DC 20036, if so desired. The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to ALL of the many caregivers who helped Betsy through her illnesses and especially to the friends at the Miami Valley Lupus Connection for all of their support these last several years.
