CARTER, Emery “Dee”
Age 79, of Vandalia, passed away Saturday September 30, 2017 at Hearth & Home of Vandalia. Emery was born December 4, 1937 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Arnold A. & Margaret L. (Hensley) Elliott. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Victor B. Carter; and by a sister, Nancy L. Orihood. Dee served over 20 years in the U. S. Navy Reserves and retired from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department as a sergeant. He also worked many years at Emery Worldwide and sold cars at Harmon Cadillac. He was a life-member of the Brookville Masonic Lodge # 596 f & am; the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, and the Harvest Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star # 564. Emery is survived by his loving wife of the past 51 years, Kathryn E. (Weldy) Carter; two sons, Dan Carter (Jane) and David Carter (fiancé Rose); four grandchildren, Samantha, Whitney, Dylan & David; and by his extended family & many good friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 3, at 2:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 12noon until the time of service. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Miami Valley or to the charity of your choice in Dee’s memory.
