Ernest E. "Ernie" Cupp

CUPP, Ernest Elwood "Ernie", age 75 of Vandalia passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Stonespring of Vandalia. Ernie was born October 11, 1939 in Habersham, TN, son of the late Jesse D. & Fannie E. (Huddleston) Cupp. He was retired from General Motors/IUE Local #801 in 1997 with 30 years of service and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Ernie had a passion for woodworking and old cars and enjoyed building a variety of things. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and 2 granddaughters, Emily and Abigail, Ernie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wilma of Vandalia; 2 daughters, Angela Cupp & Amy & husband, Chad Follick, all of Vandalia; 3 grandchildren, Taylor Cupp, Ryan Gilbert & Olivia Follick; 2 sisters, Edna Siler (Mennis) and Velma Douglas (Frank) all of MI; 1 brother, James Cupp (Lois) of Vandalia; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 4 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vandalia Firefighters Association in Ernie's memory.
