Esther M. Downs

Downs, Esther M. age 79 of Harrison Twp., passed away Saturday May 26, 2018 at Stonespring of Vandalia after a lengthy illness. Esther was born February 10, 1939 in Washington DC, daughter of the late Harry & Virginia (Bender) Hansen. She was a 1957 graduate of Vandalia Butler High School and was a member of First Baptist Church in Vandalia. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Wendell “Jim” Downs on January 11, 2018 and one sister Elizabeth Hansen. She is survived by her daughter Rose Downs of Tipp City; one brother Robert “Bob” Hansen and a nephew Bobby Hansen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 30 at 2:00pm at First Light Church (formerly First Baptist Church of Vandalia)140 Elva Ct. Vandalia with Mr. John Seagraves officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00pm.
