Eugene K Lawson Sr.

LAWSON, Eugene K. Jr., age 86 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday December 23, 2009 at Miami Valley Hospital following an illness. Eugene was born May 19, 1923 in Lexington, KY son of the late Eugene Sr. and Grace (Edster) Lawson. He was a WWII U.S. Air Force Veteran and pilot; was a retired air traffic controller from WPAFB with 25 years of service. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing the game as well as attending the major PGA tournaments and he was also an avid reader. Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy (Martin) Lawson; his children Dr. Michael Eugene Lawson (Marilyn) of Portland, TX, Curtis M. Lawson (Susan) of Vandalia, Linda Lawson Kelly of Vandalia; his grandchildren Kelly Mobley (Chris) of Coppell, TX, Dr. Karla Lawson (Ralph Sanchez) of Austin, TX, Annie Lawson of Dayton, Matthew Lawson of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel Lawson of Columbus; great-grandchildren Sarah Mobley, Kyle Mobley, and Rosie Sanchez; 2 brothers Fred Lawson (Ruth) of Polk City, FL, and James Lawson (Marilyn) of Summerfield, FL, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 30 at 10:30am at the Vandalia United Methodist Church 200 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Tom Weeks officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7pm.
