Fern Marie Zenz

ZENZ, Fern Marie, age 92, of Brookville, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Brookhaven Retirement Center. She was born September 25, 1916 in OFallon, Illinois, daughter of the late William & Marie (Fix) Hoeche. Fern was a devout Christian, a teacher for Northridge Schools for 10 years, a member of the Eastern Star and a loving mother and wife. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James Zenz, who was the owner of Zenz Hardware in Murlin Heights, OH. Ferns infectious humor and positive outlook will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Fern leaves behind her immediate family: son, Dr. Paul Mabrey of Gig Harbor, WA, daughter, Linda Brewer (Jon) of Tipp City; step-daughter, Brenda Windell of Tipp City; and her extended family, grandchildren, Dave Orange (Karen) of Columbus, WI, Debbie Steenvoorden (Jake) of East Brunswick, NJ, Denise Holtz (Kurt) of Toms River, NJ and Annie Graffney of Bluffton, SC; great-grandchildren, Chris, Kimmy, Ashley, Kristen, Anthony, Kyle, Meghan, Jeremy and Jessica. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 6 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 11 N. 3rd Street, Tipp City with Pastor Steve Gellatly officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until time of service.
