Flonnie Farmer

FARMER, Flonnie (Shepherd) age 85 of Tipp City, went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, August 16, 2013. Flonnie was born to John Marion and Susie Evaline (Inman) Shepherd on October 3, 1927 in Science Hill, KY. She was the 9th child of 10 children and the only girl. She was baptized at the age of 15 and became a member of the Mountain Assembly Church of God. Flonnie was a graduate of Science Hill High School where, after graduating, she taught school for a short period. She married Delmar Ray Farmer on May 24, 1947. Later after moving to Ohio she attended the Fellowship Tabernacle for 20 years and the Hartwell Church of God where she had a river baptism May 5, 1974. She also attended Wyoming Baptist Church and after moving to Tipp City attended Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church. Flonnie retired from Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1989 after 20 years of service as a Technical Nursing Aid. After retirement, she worked as a sub Bus Aid for Vandalia Butler Schools and part-time at the airport security for 3 years, but then retired from both in 2005. Flonnie was a faithful volunteer at the Clothesline of Tipp City and a member of the Ohio Hackney Association and the Western Ohio Pony Breeders Association. She was a special prayer warrior for all those who knew her and lived all her life serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was currently a member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church. Flonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Delmar Ray, and a granddaughter Jordan Elizabeth Glawe, her parents, and brothers, Lester, Roscoe, Matthew, Willard, Millard, Silas, Dewey, and William Theodore Shepherd. She is survived by her three daughters, Jean (Bob) Taylor, Judy (David) Lindsay, Jacqueline (Jeff) GLawe and 4 grandchildren, Malane (Keith) Bottles, Bob (Carrie) Taylor, Brittany (Sasha) Tefft, Katelyn Lindsay; 9 great-grandchildren, Hallie, Braydon, Trey, Alex, Peyton, Samuel, Rachel, Alexandra and Sophia. Also survived by her brother, Ancil Shepherd, and many special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, OH 45377. Burial will follow at Royal Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening August 23 from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to the Clothesline of Tipp City in Flonnies memory.
