Florence Lawson

Florence I. Lawson, age 96, of Tipp City, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023.

She was born September 8, 1926 in Hillsboro, Ohio to the late Ora & Irma (Fawley) Overman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Leslie Lawson, Jr.; and by two siblings, Russell Overman and Helen Carnes.

Florence was a life-time member of the Church of Christ, a founding member of the Vandalia Church of Christ and for over 50 years she taught children’s & women’s Bible classes and for most of those years she also taught during vacation Bible school. She was an artist (oil paintings) and loved gardening (she could bring a dead flower back to life). Her pride & joy was in her grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Florence is survived by three children, Russ Lawson & his wife, Melody, Janet & her husband, Ralph Royse, and Lynn Lawson; numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren; one sister, Betty LeValley; and by her extended family & many good friends.

The family will be receiving friends on Monday, August 7 from10 am – 12 pm at the Tipp City Church of Christ, 6460 S. County Road 25-A, Tipp City. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm, with Florence’s son, Russ Lawson, officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Florence to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, c/o Nationwide Children's Hospital P.O.
