KOESTER, Frederick Jack, age 79 of Vandalia, passed away in the care of Hospice of Dayton on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Jack was born June 20, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Frederick T. and Thelma E. (DeVault) Koester. Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1953-1957 and retired as a contractor from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He is survived by his second wife, Sandra (Met-Crenshaw) Koester; 1 sister, Erma Mowery and brother, Allen Jones (Joyce); his children, Don Koester (Laurie), Ron Koester and Dan Koester; 6 grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by the love of his life, Norma Jeanie (Cleaver) Koester, 3 infant sisters, Rosemary, Judy Alice and JoAnn Koester, his sister, Lois Miller and brothers, Jerry and Bill Koester. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 29 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Michael Malcosky officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 pm until time of service. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the American Heart Association in Jack's memory.
