Gary W. Rice

RICE, Gary W. age 69 of Miamisburg, passed away Friday October 20, 2017 at Miami Valley Hospital following an illness. Gary was born February 27, 1948 in Paintsville, KY son of the late Charles & Hattie (Stapleton) Rice. Gary was a retired employee of General Motors. He enjoyed being outdoors where he could go fishing and camping especially those trips to the Smokey Mountains with the family. He enjoyed playing cards and board games like Scrabble; woodworking and “tinkering” in his garage. He had a love for trains but most important to Gary was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Susan Rice; 3 daughters Sheila & husband Matt Westfall, Angela & husband Brian Greaney, Jennifer Rice and 2 grandchildren Liam and Alice Greaney. Funeral services will be held Thursday October 26 at 1:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00am until the time of services at 1:00pm In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Gary’s memory.
