HUGHES, Geneva age 82, of Englewood passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her residence. She was born March 17, 1927 in Barbersville, KY, daughter of the late Andrew J. & Delcie Blakely. Geneva was devoted to her family, enjoyed canning, gardening, flowers of all kinds, especially roses, and spending time using her prize possession, her sewing machine. Preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 2002, 1 brother, John, 1 sister, Nola, son-in-law, Gary Stout, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Hughes, Geneva is survived by her daughters, Sandra & husband, Doug OShell of Clayton, and Linda Stout of Kettering; 1 son, Howard Ray Hughes of Franklin; 1 brother, Paul Blakely of Ft. Myers, FL; 2 sisters, Amanda Turner of Ashland and Patricia Fleming of Dayton; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer McConnehea, Jeremy Hughes, & Brandy Stout; 2 great-grandchildren, Chase & Skyler McConnehea; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 20 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. John Fowler officiating. Burial followed at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until time of service.
