George J. Campbell Jr.

CAMPBELL, George John Jr., age 75 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 at The Hospice of Dayton. George worked as a buyer most of his life after graduating from Susquehanna College, most recently working at Gem City Engineering. George, a Jersey Boy, lived in Hillsdale, NJ, just a short distance from New York City. He played football in high school, where his teammates called him “Bear” and also played in college, where his teammates called him “Soup.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, George J. Sr. & Lillian Campbell, one brother and one sister. George is survived by his wife, Joyce, daughter Felicia Campbell of Harrisburg, PA; sister, Ruth Cornish of Allentown, PA, along with two step-sons, Stephen Beck and Jonathon Poston and two step-grandchildren, Arianna & David Beck; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, January 18 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Shannon Horst officiating. Interment will be held at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5-7 pm.
