George J. Griesmeyer

GRIESMEYER, George J. Age 98, of Huber Heights, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015. George was born January 30, 1916 in Dayton to the late George G. & Mary (Gramm) Griesmeyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Robert John. George was a WW II Army Air Corps veteran. He retired in 1988 from Oberers Flowers with over 40 years of service as a floral designer. He was a member of the Huber Heights Senior Citizens and for over 25 years he has been active with the exercise class through Sinclair Community College. George took great pride in living in Willow Creek Estates and enjoyed helping his neighbors. He was an avid fisherman and cherished the times he spent fishing with his son and grandson. He is survived by his loving wife of the past 77 years, Norma (Emert) Griesmeyer (married in 1938); son, George C. (Jackie) Griesmeyer; grandson, Marc Griesmeyer; and by nieces & nephews, Judy Chapman, Neil Emert, Lois Tate, Dick Pollitt, Donna Frith, Susan Bartlett, Jerry Emert & Sandra Nolen. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., Thursday (1/8) at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
