George G. Harrington

HARRINGTON, George G. age 80 of Vandalia, passed away Saturday April 6, 2013. George was born September 11, 1932 in Cincinnati, OH son of the late George Matthew & Claire Loretta (Decker) Harrington. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by many. As a pharmacist for more than 40 years in the Dayton/Vandalia area, George diligently and dedicatedly cared for others with a friendly, trusted style. George was a parishoner of St Christopher Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus; was member and past president of the Vandalia Rotary Club; and was member and past president of the Vandalia Senior Citizens. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Georges hobbies included playing golf, reading and playing bridge at the senior center. He loved to travel, be outdoors, study history and dine out with family and friends. He enjoyed relaxing with family and especially cherished his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one sister Patricia Lubbers. George is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Carolyn J. (Buchholz); his children Kathleen Harrington of Vandalia, Sheila & husband David Dean of Vandalia, Joseph & wife Terri Harrington of Butler Twp.; his grandchildren Jordan, Michael, Reilly, Sarah, Marie, Elaine, and Erin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday April 10 at 11:00am at St Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Tuesday evening from 5-8pm.
