HARRIS, George W., age 79 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. George was born June 24, 1929 in Dayton, OH, son of the late John & Mabel (Cochran) Harris. He was a retired employee of the Frigidaire Division of General Motors with over 25 years of service and was a member of the Skyview Wesleyan Church. Preceded in death by 1 son, Michael Harris, George is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet (Hackenberger) of Vandalia; 2 daughters, Beverly & husband, Gregg Dumler and Beth & husband, Ken Johnson, all of Vandalia; 5 grandchildren, Zachary, Cody, Brooke, Benjamin & Erika; 1 brother, Jim Harris & wife, Pam of West Carrollton; his beloved dog, Rudy and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, August 11, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. David Fisher officiating. Burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Georges memory.
