SWIGART, Gerald T. “Jerry”, age 86, of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. Jerry was born December 7, 1934 in Xenia, OH, son of the late Harry S. & Alice (Lakatos) Swigart. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bob Swigart and sister, Dolores Lemmer, Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Swigart; sons, Mark (Phyllis) and Tim (Shari) Swigart; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Centurian (137 jumps) Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, and the U.S. Air Force as a forward area combat controller. Afterward, Jerry became an air traffic control specialist, as well as working for AAA Fire and Security. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia, the VFW Post #9582 and Dayton Chapter of the Matthew B. Ridgway 82nd Airborne Division Association, proudly serving both. Jerry will be loved and missed dearly by all his family and friends. May God bless him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 2 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Rd., Vandalia with Rev. Fr. John Tonkin officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of mass. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
