Gertrude E. Watson

WATSON, Gertrude E., age 86 of Vandalia passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born January 17, 1927 in Dayton, OH, daughter of the late Elias & Kathryn (Weant) Fry. Gertrude was a member of the Murlin Heights United Church of Christ, served as Past Matron of the OES Camilla/Englewood Chapter and was a member of the Eintracht Singing Society. She also served as Past Mother Advisor for the Vandalia Rainbow Assembly and was involved with the Vandalia Chapter of DeMolay. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald, Gertrude is survived by her children, Donald Watson of Indianapolis, Dan Watson (Wendy) of Tipp City and Eileen Rickert (Gary) of Vandalia; 7 grandchildren, Ryan, Dustin, Brooke, Katie, Will, Ashley & Andrew; 5 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 31 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-8 pm with OES Services at 8:00 pm. Friends may also call from 1:00 pm until time of service on Wednesday. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Gertrudes memory.
