Gilbert D. "Gil" Howe

HOWE, Gilbert D. Gil age 89 of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday April 20, 2010 at the Cypress Pointe Health Center in Englewood. Gil was born June 27, 1920 son of the late Lyle & Stella (Gill) Howe. Gil served as a pilot in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He retired from Hartzell Propeller Inc. as an engineer and pilot. He was a designated engineer for the FAA and was a recipient of the FAA Master Pilot Award in 2005. He was a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church. Gil is survived by his wife Harriet; one daughter Lyn Howe; 2 grandsons Dan and Matt Spaugy. Graveside services for family and friends will be held Friday April 23 at 1:00pm at Poplar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Tom Weeks officiating. There will be no visitation.
