Glenna C. Mosley

June 21, 1934 — May 8, 2018

Mosley, Glenna C.

Glenna (Melton) Mosley, 83, of Vandalia, OH, died peacefully on May 8, 2018. She remained at home until just recently and was cared for by loving family, friends and caregivers. An accomplished business woman for much of her life, she retired as Manager of Avis Rent A Car in downtown Dayton in 1977. She then went on to have “fun” working part-time at Dale Fashions for a number of years combining her love for customer service with an astute sense of fashion. Leisure time was spent around the house and in the sun, specifically in her garden caring for her prized rose bushes. She also enjoyed traveling between Vandalia, Hyden and Florida while enjoying family and friends along the way.

As her grandchildren began successful sports endeavors, you could find her traveling all over the country to support and cheer them on at various softball and baseball tournaments and football games. She was always introduced to the teammates and their families as “Granny.” “Granny” was who she was and what she loved being known as.

Glenna was the 2nd child of the late Carl and Marie Melton of Hyden, KY and preceded in death by her brother, Robert (Bobby) Melton. She is survived by her husband Donald (Don) Mosley and children, Teresa Lucas of Tipp City, OH and Donald (Donnie) Mosley, Jr (Alycia) of Kodak, TN. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Emily Mosley (Fayetteville, GA), Aaron Lucas (Pittsburgh, PA), Gretchen King (Winterhaven, FL), Ryan Lucas (Dayton, OH), Ashley Cobb (Canton, GA), Mackenzie Smith (Knoxville, TN) and seven great-grandchildren, Madilynn (Madi), Evelyn (Evvie), Isabella (Bella), Donavan, Abigail (Abbi), Preston and McKinley as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved sister Geraldine (Gerry and Shorty) Tackett of St. Cloud, FL and her brother Richard (Dickie) Melton of Hyden, KY.

Glenna was a special mother and grandmother to Teresa, Donnie and Alycia Mosley, Emily Mosley and Mark Loyd, Aaron and Leigh Lucas, Gretchen and Steven King, Ryan and Christa Lucas, Ashley and Morgan Cobb and Mackenzie and Tyler Smith.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her dedicated caregivers, Jodi, Lynn, Annmarie and the rest of the team at Visiting Angels. They, as well as the Pristine Senior Living staff and Kindred Hospice team, allowed her the dignity to remain peacefully at home for so long. That dedication to her care and the kindness of her caregivers will never be forgotten.

Relatives and Friends will be received at CITY CHURCH, 138 S. Wilkinson Street, Dayton, OH 45402 on Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00. A service of Christian Burial will be directly after. Glenna will be laid to rest in Forest Hills Cemetery following the service.
