Goldie M. Stapleton

May 19, 1931 — February 7, 2011

STAPLETON, Goldie May (Powers), age 79 passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton with family by her side, after battling many months of leukemia, then a recent battle with pneumonia. She was born May 19, 1931 on Hazel Mtn., Dickenson Co., VA, the eldest of 11 children. Preceded in death were husbands, Joseph Riley and Rex Stapleton, her mother, Francis Ross, sisters, Naomi Newman and Edna May, and brother-in-laws, William Rector, Billy Newman, David Kelly, Harold Nuckles, and William May, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and 3 great-nephews. Goldie is survived by her daughter, Donna Riley and her special friend, Guy Latham of Dayton; siblings, Georgia Kelly of Beavercreek, Richard & Kathy Powers of Beavercreek; Maynard Powers & his special friend, Jewell Stone of Jamestown, Jerry Powers of SC, Wilma & Charlie Hoskins of FL, Mary & Jack Maynard of Springfield, Brenda Nuckles of New Carlisle, Shelby Rector of CA; 23 nieces & nephews and numerous great nieces, nephews, and friends. Goldie was much loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be held at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Friday, February 11 from 5-8 pm. Graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, February 12 at 10:00 am at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45440 in Goldies memory. Special thanks to Hospice of Dayton for all they do.
