Grover A. Becker

BECKER, Grover A., age 78 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born May 1, 1936 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Lloyd M. Becker Sr. and Elizabeth B. (Smith) Becker. Grover was a former employee of NCR and then retired from General Motors Delphi Plant, where he worked as a Millwright. He was a member of Polk Grove United Church of Christ, a member of several camping clubs over the years and truly enjoyed the outdoors. Preceded in death by his sister, Estella Kohl and brother, Lloyd M. Becker Jr., Grover is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis (Mullenix) Becker; 1 son, James Becker (Beth), 1 daughter, Kimberly Nickell; 1 sister, Juanita Austin; 4 grandchildren, Christine Klimkowski (Dan), Keith Becker (Jacqueline), Daniel Nickell & Robert Nickell; 4 great-grandchildren, Luke, Alex, Mark & Reese, along with a niece, numerous nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 14 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Pastor John Shonle officiating. Interment will follow at Royal Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm.
