Harold Beck

BECK, Harold, age 91, formerly of Vandalia passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at Emeritus at Fox Run in Fairborn, OH. Harold was born the third of eight children to the late Sid & Elizabeth (Dixon) Beck in Sulphur Springs, TX on September 4, 1921. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran serving in the 4100th AAF Base Unit, was a volunteer fireman with Butler Twp. and served his community through numerous local volunteer organizations. Harold believed Family First . He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, golf and other outdoor sports. He was a Scout Leader for Troop #120 and coached youth baseball for 15 years. Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Abicht); sons, Harold Thomas Beck (Susan) of GA and Robert Beck (Sandy) of Tipp City; 6 grandchildren, Jenny (Jason), Pam (Nick), Amy (Jason), Casey, Andy & Hannah; 1 great-grandson, Brayden and numerous other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Harolds life will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, December 15 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Mark Meyer officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 am until time of service. A private graveside service will be held by the family at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Emeritus at Fox Run Activities Department, 7800 Dayton-Springfield Rd., Fairborn, OH 45324 in Harolds memory.
