Harold L. Bowling
Age 88 of Vandalia passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Hearth and Home of Vandalia. He was born January 20, 1928 in Hellier, KY, son of the late Ory L. & Lonnie (Cook) Bowling.
Harold was a retired employee of the Chrysler Corporation, was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Cassel Hills Church of Christ. He was an avid golfer and reader, had been a loyal, lifetime fan of the Cincinnati Reds since 1939, and was an avid UK Wildcat basketball fan.
Preceded in death by brother, Chester, infant brother, Archie and sister, Peggy, Harold is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Virginia (Brewer) Bowling of Vandalia; son, Richard Bowling of Newark; 3 sisters, Pina, Verla & Patricia; 1 brother, Robert, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 2, at the Cassel Hills Church of Christ, 836 S. Brown School Rd., Vandalia with Pastor David Edmonds officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Harold’s memory.
