HANNA, Harry O. Jr., age 78 of Vandalia, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at Hospice of Miami County. He was born December 5, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Harry O. & Virginia Curtis.
Harry was a 1964 graduate of Colonel White High School, a retired employee of General Motors with 30 years of service and a Past Master and member of the Vandalia Lodge #742 F&AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was a member of the Butler Twp. Fire Department and a charter member of the Vandalia Fire Department with 30 years combined service. Following his retirement, Harry continued to serve the Vandalia community by working 14 years with the Parks and Recreation Department. Harry drove limousines for Westwind Limo Service and loved driving everyone from celebrities to his family members for birthday parties. Harry loved fishing and traveling with his wife, Patricia and their lifelong friends to destinations all across the country, but especially loved Gatlinburg and spending time in the mountains.
Preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Patricia, his step-father, Max Curtis, and his nephew, James “Jimmy” Brown, Harry is survived by his daughter, Kim Gutshall (Guy); son, Michael Hanna (Monique); 6 grandchildren, Troy Rehmert (Lindsey), Zachery Hanna (Aprill), Hannah Johnson (Brad), Garrett Rehmert (Madison), Collin Hanna and Halanah Rehmert; 5 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maverick and Annalynn Rehmert and Jack and Lucas Hanna; sisters, Patricia Brown (Fred) and Debra Eskew (Travis); along with nieces, nephews, who referred to him as their “favorite Uncle Butch”; his lifelong friend, Donnie Bowman and numerous other relatives and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia with interment to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening (11/1) from 5-7 pm.
