Hartley E. Jones

JONES, Hartley E., age 85 of Vandalia passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born October 21, 1927 in Allendale, West Virginia, son of the late Nolan B. & Maude L. (Fleming) Jones. Hartley was a retired employee of Inland " Div. of General Motors and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by 3 siblings, Ruth, Bill & Mick, Hartley is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mae N. Jones; 2 sons, William Jones (Maria) of Tipp City & Roger Jones (Jane) of New Carlisle; 8 grandchildren, Shawn Jones (Kelly), Matthew Jones (Nikki),Ryan Jones, Amanda Jones Miller (Jason), Emily Jones, Joshua Garlough (Kristin), Brandon Garlough, & Heather, 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Brack Jones of W. VA; 1 sister, Margaret Griffith of FL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 23 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with burial to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Hartleys memory.
