Helen Louise Jones

Helen Louise Vance Jones, long-time resident of Panama City, Fla., passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009. Born Feb. 21, 1927, in Ronceverte, W.Va., to the late Amos Beard and May Reaser Vance, Helen was sixth born of seven siblings. She married Calvin James Jones in Dayton, Ohio, on Aug. 15, 1948. She was a devoted mother to four children: Janice, James Calvin, Jennifer and Joyce Leigh. Helen is survived by two daughters, Janice Jones Teague with her husband, Richard Teague, and their two sons, Aaron and Adam Teague, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Jennifer Jones Womack with her husband, Andrew Womack, and their son, Dagon Womack, and daughter, Fallon Womack, of Panama City, Fla. She also is survived also by her sister, Patsy Vance Hoke of Wester-ville, Ohio; her sisters-in-law, Arlene Hoke Vance Anthony of West Manchester, Ohio, Betty Joyce Vance of Vandalia, Ohio, and Nelle Jones Miller of Dayton, Ky.; as well as many close life-long friends including Carol Lassiter and Barbara Bryan, both of Panama City. Jana Jones and Mary Marshall contributed greatly to her comfort in the last years of her life. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Calvin James Jones; two children, James and Joyce Jones; brothers, Palmer Vance, Raymond Vance and Glavis Dalmond Vance; and sisters, Geraldine Vance Johnston and Catherine Vance Woosley. Helen's tenacious mountain-born spirit will be surely missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. with memorial services at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Morton and Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia, OH 45377. Graveside services will follow immediately at the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
