SWAB, Helen B., age 81 of Huber Heights, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015. Helen was born July 31, 1934 in Barnesville, Ohio, daughter of the late John G. & Rosalia (Wahl) Brown. Helen was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her nursing career at the Dayton VA Medical Center, was an instructor with the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and finished her nursing career with Good Samaritan and Miami Valley Hospital. Helen was an active member of the St. Christopher Church where she served as a lector, a member of the Bereavement Committee, RCIA and most recently served with the Parish Faith Enrichment Committee. She was an avid and competitive card player and enjoyed playing in her 3 bridge clubs. Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking and planning perfect dinner parties for her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Ryan Belcke, Helen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bob Swab; children, Marianne Belcke (Rich), Maureen Ruttle (Matt), Lynn Broderick (Tom) and Malia Grimes (Chris); grandchildren, Rebecca Ruttle, Kevin Broderick, Rachel Ruttle and Stuart Belcke; one sister, one brother, William Brown (Carol); one sister, Marianne Heckman (Ralph); her aunt, Clara Wahl; close friends, Elizabeth “Pinky” and Joe Donovan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other very special friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, December 12, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Rd., Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Christopher Church or to the St. Christopher Church Bereavement Committee in Helen’s memory. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
