Henry W Ochs

OCHS, Henry W. Jr., age 88, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Summerville at South Dayton. He was born January 12, 1921 in Miami County, OH, son of the late Henry W. Sr. & Elizabeth (Welty) Ochs. Henry founded West Milton Precision Machine & Tool, Inc. in 1962 and was owner/operator until his retirement in 1982. He moved the company to Vandalia in 1966 and was very active in the community. Henry was selected as Businessman of the Year in 1976 and served as President of the Dayton Tool & Die Association from 1980-1982. During his tenure as President, Henry was instrumental in helping initiate the machining programs at Sinclair Community College. Henry also took great pride in supporting and encouraging the efforts of local entrepreneurs, educationally and as well as financially. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Kittyhawk Optimist Club, was a 75 year member of The Ohio State Grange #2414, a former member of the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Marian Council #3754. Preceded in death by his wife, Victoria (Wenclewicz); 1 brother, Robert Ochs & 1 son-in-law, Michael Huart, Henry is survived by his children, Connie Huart, Bill Ochs, Steve Ochs (Penny), Theresa Gallagher (Edward) & Beth Kelsey (David); 11 grandchildren, Philip Huart, Bill, Joseph & Sharon Ochs, Jim & Stacey Ochs, Dan & Steve Gallagher, Stephanie Willis, Megan & Andrea Kelsey; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 22, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Robert Monnin officiating. Entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the American Diabetes Association in Henrys memory.
