Hilda I. Karns
Age 87, of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Cypress Pointe. Hilda was born December 4, 1929 in Dayton to the late Frank & Ruth (Henrich) Hess.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Robert C. Karns, in 1983; a daughter, Sandy Workman; and by her brother, William Hess.

Hilda was an avid motorcyclist and stopped riding at the age of 81. During her riding years, she made several trips across the country alone. She would put over 4000 miles on her motorcycle per trip. She put more miles on her motorcycle than her car.

Hilda is survived by one daughter, Linda Gerwick (Mike); six grandchildren, Jamie (Brad), Kelly, Dennis, Kim, Chris (Shannon) & Kevin; and by four great grandchildren, Kayla, Tristen, Troy & Ethan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday (12/16) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery in Butler Twp. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
