Irene L. (Markunes) Wollenhaupt

WOLLENHAUPT, Irene L. (Markunes), age 90 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015. Irene attended Polk Grove United Church of Christ, and enjoyed her time with the Vandalia Senior Citizen Center, the Red Hat Society and working as an Avon Lady for many years. Preceded in death by her first husband, Clem Markunes, her second husband, Charles Wollenhaupt and 2 daughters, Pamela Cross and Dawn Markunes-Nelson, Irene is survived by her daughter, Melanie Markunes; son-in-law, Steve Nelson; granddaughter, Nicole Bemmes (Anthony); 2 great-grandchildren, Victoria and Samuel and a host of good friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 4 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, OH with Pastor John Shonle officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service. Irene's family would like to offer special thanks to the Comfort Keepers and the staff from Hospice of Dayton for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Irene's memory.
