Iris Z. Tracey

TRACEY, Iris, age 87, passed away quietly at home Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was born December 7, 1929 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Iris worked as a waitress in her teens; became an office manager in her twenties, and at age 30, she became a beautician. She owned and operated her own salon until age 55, when she returned to office work as Payroll and Accounts Payable clerk at Unibilt Industries, where she was employed until her retirement at age 84. A member of the Vandalia Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness for 44 years, Iris loved children, dogs and shopping. Preceded in death by her parents, Vernon & Helen (Clemons) Tracey; one brother, Vernon Tracey Jr., Iris is survived by one brother, Joseph (Mary) Tracey; sisters, Opal O’Connell and Sharon (Doug) Scholz; nieces Chris Claude, Kathy Baughman, Karen Kleinheinz, and nephews, Tim O’Connell, Joseph Tracey Jr., and Michael Tracey. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 14 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Mr. Warner Sykes officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vandalia Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness, 8986 Dog Leg Rd., Dayton, OH 45414 or the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center, 6790 Webster St. Dayton, OH 45414 in Iris’s memory.
