WAYMIRE, John L., “Jack”, age 78 of Butler Township, passed away August 13, 2020 at the Upper Valley Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was born February 19, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Roy & Dorothy (Riffle) Waymire. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army, where he proudly served in the 716th Military Police Unit in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. Jack’s MP unit was one of the most highly decorated MP units in the history of the Army. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #668, was a lifelong member of Polk Grove United Church of Christ and was the Owner/Operator of JJ’s Forklift Service. Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Nell (Burton) Waymire; his sister, Sue Waymire; brother, Mike Waymire; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Karen Burton; 3 nephews; 4 nieces; along with a host of extended family and friends.
To celebrate Jack’s life, a Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 27 at Polk Grove Cemetery, 9190 Frederick Pike, Dayton, OH 45414 with Mr. Rusty Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, 550 Summit Ave., Ste. #101, Troy, Ohio 45373 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 in Jack’s memory.
