The life of the party and consummate story teller, Jack Williams made his last wildly inappropriate and probably sarcastic comment on August 17, 2017. Jack was 81 years young and throughout the State, all who knew him were blessed to share in and witness his incredible zest for life. Known for never meeting anyone who didn’t have good in them, he truly exemplified the term, optimist. He is well remembered as a Father who was always there to attend his kids activities while demonstrating a strong work ethic and burning the oil at both ends 24/7 as a passionate insurance salesman. Jack re-located to Dayton from Cleveland in 1965 with MetLife as a sales manager. He later built what has evolved into a second-generation multiline independent insurance agency. He never met a sales contest he didn’t want to conquer. He attained the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Life Underwriter Training Council (LUTC) insurance professional designations.
He served as an LUTC life insurance counselor and educator for seven years and took tremendous pride in the career success of his many students. He ran for City Council in Garfield Heights and Vandalia, served the City on committees for many years, founded & served as Charter President of the Vandalia Optimist Club, including its annual Don R. Hughes Memorial Tournament. He particularly enjoyed helping form and umpire Vandalia’s first female/girls t-ball league. Other interests included Cleveland Sports, John Birch Society, bowling, Indian Guides, Shriners International, Freemasonry and golf. Graduate of John Adams, Cleveland Grad 1954, Kent State Alum & Sigma Alpha Epsilon & US Army Veteran. Jack is survived by his high school sweetheart of 58 years, Beverly Mae (Bradler), Garfield Heights, Grad 1956. Children, Jack Harland Jr and Jennifer Heather Moore (Brian). The apple of his eyes, his grandchildren, Jack Williams III (Morton, and heir of Opa’s eternal spirit of optimism), Olivia Lorna-Mae (Morton), Mary Elizabeth (Smith) and Charles Moore (Ft. Thomas, KY). He loved attending Jack’s baseball games, the girls’ Irish dance & music playing and Charles cello concert performances. Sister Marlene Olbrysh (Nick), Brother Ken (Corry).
